Yardley Motor Trade Ltd The experience started off well when we got to the garage. Test drove the car, there was obvious signs of its age but as far as we could tell all seemed well. My son really loved the car and for his first car we thought it would be ideal. Problems started less than a month after having the car. The car has now been in the garage twice since we brought it home and we’ve not even had it a month! To be fair to the garage they did offer to pay for the first repair which was appreciated, however when the exhaust completely fell off due to the state it was in I contacted the garage and after a lot of chasing (on my part) they didn’t want to know and told me it was wear and tear! So my teenage son now finds himself nearly £400 out of pocket to replace an exhaust etc less than a month after having spent all his savings on buying the car. The exhaust was so rusted and in such a state the whole thing snapped and had to be replaced. Whilst I appreciate when you buy an older vehicle things will be worn and will go wrong but I would have hoped it wouldn’t be in the first month of owning the car. Plus there was no way we could have known about this problem unless we had the car up on a ramp and had we known we may not have even bought it. We bought the car in good faith and I find it hard to believe that the garage wouldn’t have been aware of the problem unless they didn’t check the car over prior to sale which is a worry. We feel really let down by the response (or lack of) from the garage and to be honest wouldn’t advise going there unless you take the car for a good check up before you part with any money! Wish someone had warned me. Oh and when they proudly tell you nobody has claimed on the warrantee they supply with the car, there is a reason for that (it’s useless!)
